2022 Coaching Team

Chris Oburchay
Director of Sailing

Chris is returning for his 7th year as the Sailing Director for Team Pequot, and we are excited to have him lead our program this summer. He currently works as a teacher in the Bridgeport School System. Chris learned to sail at Pequot Yacht Club in a Lightning and an Atlantic, and has enjoyed single-handed racing at Fayerweather Yacht Club.  His favorite sailing memories are cruising the BVI’s and Lesser Antilles with his wife and friends. Did you know that Chris restored a 1946 Lightning?

Maggie Costikyan
Head Coach

Maggie is returning for her 5th year as an Instructor for Team Pequot, and we are excited to have her lead our coaching team as Head Instructor this summer.  She is graduating this spring from Fordham University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.  Maggie grew up sailing at Noroton Yacht Club.  Her favorite sailing memory was when she competed in the Match Racing Nationals for the first time in her college sailing team’s history and made it to the finals!  Did you know that Maggie is captain of the Fordham Sailing Team?

Hannah Nightingale

Assistant Head Coach

 

Hannah is returning for her 2nd year as an Instructor for Team Pequot, and will be the Assistant Head Coach for 2022.  She will be a sophomore at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and majoring in International Relations and Spanish.  Hannah grew up sailing at Norwalk Yacht Club, Roton Point and Noroton Yacht Club.  Her favorite sailing memory was competing in her first college team racing regatta on a Loch in Scotland!  Did you know that Hannah trained for a marathon?

Ben Craine

Ben is returning for his 4th year as an Instructor for Team Pequot.  He will be a junior at Colorado College and is majoring in International Political Economy.  Ben grew up sailing at Cedar Point Yacht Club.  His favorite sailing memory was when he sailed in his first Beach Point Overnight race in the Big Boat Program when he was 14.  Ben had never sailed in a distance race before, and he had a lot of fun learning how to sail as a team during the middle of the night.  Did you know that Ben and his dad were the first “father-son duo” to win the JSA Laser Championships?

Carly Costykian

 

Carly is returning for her 2nd year as an Instructor for Team Pequot. She will be a junior at Brown University and is majoring in Economics and Political Science. Carly grew up sailing at Noroton Yacht Club. Her favorite sailing memory was when she sailed in the Women’s Doublehanded Championships in San Diego! Did you know that Carly was the Freshman Captain of the Brown Sailing Team?

Ally Triano

Ally is returning for her 2nd year as an Instructor for Team Pequot.  She will be transferring to a new university, so stay tuned!  Ally grew up sailing at Noroton Yacht Club.  One of her favorite sailing memories was racing in the Shelter Island Regatta during her final year of JSA.  Did you know that Ally is a coxswain for Bucknell’s Women’s Rowing team?

Danielle Wilklow

 

Danielle is joining Team Pequot for the first time this year but has been coaching for 2 years at a nearby program!  She will be a sophomore at the University of San Diego and is majoring in Business Administration.  Danielle grew up sailing at Black Rock Yacht Club.  One of her favorite sailing memories was painting her laser sail for her last year in JSA!  Did you know that Danielle lived in a city where Brie was invented?

Griffin Gigliotti

 

Griffin is joining Team Pequot for his first year as an Instructor. He will be a freshman at Boston College where he will be majoring in International Relations with a minor in Psychology. Griffin grew up sailing at Noroton Yacht Club and with LISOT. One of his favorite sailing memories was placing 23rd in 29ers at the World Championships in Spain! Did you know that Griffin once had to escape from a sinking Suburban caught in a flash flood?

Will McGonagle

 

Will is joining Team Pequot for his first year as an Instructor. He will be a senior at Greens Farms Academy where he concentrates in Computer Science and Digital Thinking. Will grew up sailing at Black Rock Yacht Club. One of his favorite sailing memories was racing in the Beach Point Overnight Race when he was the only sailor awake! Did you know that Will has been playing the Electric Bass since he was in 5th grade?
